Educational Philosophy
The Educator in me believes……
The purpose of education is to impart skills, experience and knowledge to the student that will allow them to make informed decisions about life choices. These skills, experience and knowledge will also give them the ability to be productive citizens. Education correlates to the degree of freedom that an individual will obtain in life mentally, financially and socially. The freedom that we gain through education prepares us for the citizenship that we were granted by birth or by law. An outstanding Teacher will embrace this concept to promote the education of our children. This may involve providing an avenue to assist students who face mental, social, physical, emotional and economic challenges that my hinder their learning process. My philosophy is rooted in the fact that a Teacher must have passion for children and embrace the challenges that they may bring.
I also believe that Teachers must use their assessments and data as driving forces in the classrooms. Assessments provide the educator with a marginal area in which students lack the necessary skills to advance. The data shows the challenge areas that need to be addressed so that the student may have a chance to master the content. This mastery will be accomplished in my class by using peer tutoring or academic assistance lead by the Teacher to those who are not showing improvement. I believe that consistent adjustments in your lessons will help with student improvement and increase academic success.
